Welcome to the Oracles of the Golden Wood website!

Elen síla lumenn' omentielvo! (A star shines on the hour of our meeting!) Greetings to existing* and potential members!  Oracles of the Golden Wood is a kinship on the Silverlode server in the game Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO).  Although the founding members, Ceradwen and close friends/family, hail from Lothlorien, all races, classes and levels of players are welcome (we won't even make the dwarves wear blindfolds!).  In addition to being founders of this kinship, we are also LOTRO founders, meaning we have been with the game since beta and plan to be with it for years to come.

We are currently selectively adding active members to join our family in the journey.  We love questing, leveling and getting to end game fun.  We appreciate the lore, but are not heavy roleplayers.  We have crafters of all sorts and members ranging from newbie to well-equipped 60s.  We are helpful to one another in a pay it forward style.  We do not tolerate beggars or moochers, but if you are patient and respectful, you will get all the help you need. 

This is a game and is supposed to be fun!  We never want it to feel like a second job to anyone so we do not make requirements on our members with regard to required play times or level attainment.  We do have lots of events and fellowships throughout a given day though, so if you wish to play more and achieve levels with speed, there are good folks with whom to do that.  If you want to take your time with your journey through Middle Earth, that is most fine, too!

We are not seeking members who need rules or monitoring, so the best fit with us are mature players or mature for age players.  Younger family members with a kin-member sponsor are also welcome (e.g., you want your child or younger sibling to join too, that is fine but you will be responsible for their behavior).

Everyone, you may take until the end of this weekend to submit your bio entries!  New deadline is Sunday, July 5th at 12 midnight eastern standard time.

Time to get those creative juices flowing and write an interesting biography description for your LOTRO character!  Selected judges will be voting for and naming a winner in each of the following categories: Most Creative, Most Humourous and Best Use of Tolkien Lore.  One winner for each category will receive one high-end crafted item of her or his choice or a package of several smaller items if preferred. 

Please submit your entries to Yurica (aka, Serendith, Izanne and Kiriath) here on the website.  I have added officer contact lists to the site to make it easier to contact her (on the home page and in the mail center).  Submit only one entry per player (pick your favorite character and send one bio description).  The description may only be as long as the number of characters allowed in the LOTRO bio description area.  The deadline for submission is July 2nd at midnight EST.

It's official! LOTRO has apparently decided to declare the top 3 Kinships in each category winners in the Kinship Leveling Contest.  The competition was stiff and we worked very hard to maintain our 2nd place finish.  From the looks of it, we will be receiving the free kin house rent for a year!  We will not be getting any special badges for the LOTRO forums though; however, this was never expected as we were never trying for the across server win.  Apparently there were a few fine details of which we were not aware, one of them being that finishing in the top 3 was indeed worth it!  I was delighted in all of your hard work before and even more ecstatic now to learn that we actually are getting something out of it all (in addition to a warm fuzzy feeling).
