    Welcome
Welcome to the Oracles of the Golden Wood website!

Elen síla lumenn' omentielvo! (A star shines on the hour of our meeting!) Oracles of the Golden Wood is a kinship on the Silverlode server in the game Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO).  The founding members, Ceradwen and her family, hail from Lothlorien, but all races, classes and levels of players are welcome (we won't even make the dwarves wear blindfolds!).  In addition to being founders of this kinship, we are also LOTRO founders and lifetime members, meaning we have been with the game since beta and plan to be with it for years to come.

We are selectively adding active members to join our family in the journey.  Our current objectives, which dictate our events, include outfitting ourselves with Radiance Gear and assisting our members with level 50 and 60 class quests for their legendary traits as needed.  A group of us are planning to start raiding weekly or bi-weekly starting in late June (still room in this group, too!).

In general, we love questing, leveling and getting to end game fun.  We appreciate the lore, but are not heavy roleplayers.  We have crafters of all sorts and members ranging from newbie to well-equipped 65s.  We are helpful to one another in a pay it forward style.  We do not tolerate beggars or moochers, but if you are patient and respectful, you will be happy with us.

This is a game and is supposed to be fun!  We never want it to feel like a second job to anyone so we do not make requirements on our members with regard to required play times or level attainment.  While no level expectations are made, the most opportunities for grouping will be for those lvl 60 and higher.  While we do not make requirements on our members' play time, we do ask that if you sign up for one of our events, that you honor that specific time commitment.

We are not seeking members who need rules or monitoring, so the b
est fit with us are mature players or mature for age players.  The age requirement generally equates to 21 years of age, but we realize maturity does not always match a person's age.  Therefore, if you do not meet the age requirement, but feel this kinship is a good fit for you, we encourage those of you who are considered mature by yourself and others  to contact Ceradwen for special consideration.  Younger family members with a kin-member sponsor are also welcome (e.g., you want your child or younger sibling to join too, that is fine but you will be responsible for their behavior).

If you are interested in joining us, just hit the big link at the top of the screen that says "Join Oracles of the Golden Wood."  You may need to register with Guild Portal, a quick and easy process.  Please send me (Ceradwen) or my most played alt (Ceradweth) an in-game tell or message with your interest as well.  You can also contact any of our officers for an in-game interview and invite.

***Members invited in game who are here to join the website***:   just hit the big link at the top of the screen that says "Join Oracles of the Golden Wood."  You may need to register with Guild Portal, a quick and easy process.   Alert me in game if it appears I may have missed you promoting you to member status on the website. Once promoted, you must log in to see the members only area such as the forums and the event sign-up calendar.

    OGW is Moving!
    Ceradwen, Nov 23, 11 12:32 PM.

We're not moving from Pel Beriad, but we are moving to a new website.  Check out our new website here.  Look for the OGW Fast Track button for a streamlined sign up process.  If you could start migrating over there at your earliest convenience, I would greatly appreciate it.  Trying to get the new site populated for my upcoming recruitment efforts.  Pack your bags and bring whatever you can (e.g., an important forum post or news article you wrote).  Thanks much!
    Relaunch of the KL channel
    Arienfell, May 24, 11 7:13 AM.

Hi everyone, this is sent on behalf of Tacitus. If you have any questions about the KL Channel, please forward an in-game mail to him.

    --

KL = Kin League; a multi-kin LFF & general chat channel.

Purpose:  Bringing together respectful kins & enabling more 6-24 person content.  Silverlode has a profusion of small and mid-sized kinships, many of them quite fun.  The downside of tons of kins & many alts:  Its easy to lose track of people.

When previously promoted, the channel would often have 10-30 people.  It was a good way to find people to fill a group without using LFF or GLFF.  Sometimes PUG groups are decent, but we've all had some bad ones.

    How to join:  /joinchannel KL

How to talk: /1 (message)  (/2, /3, /4 if you have other user channels)

Who can join:  We can't keep anyone out, but would prefer mature individuals.  Feel free to encourage friends to join us.  We will be formally inviting a few additional kinships as official members.  If you know some good kinships that may wish to join, message us.

What are the rules?  1) PG-13; 2) Be respectful; 3) No kin recruiting.  We may get into a bit more detail later, but previously there were no problems, thus no need.

I need help with (X):  If you need assistance, feel free to message Tacitus/Magrathaur, or your kin officers.

Note1:  Some users will need to (Rt Click) on their chat tabs, go to (Change Filters), and make sure all (User Chat) items have a check mark.  If you wish to make a separate tab, you may toggle as desired.

Note2:  All characters/toons will need to be added with /joinchannel KL.  We encourage you to add all of your toons, even the kinless low level/crafting/storage characters.  It can be very handy to keep in touch.
    Greetings to all kin members!

    Suilad!

I'm taking over the mantle of events and entertainment organiser.

Over the next few days, I might post the odd question asking for feedback from kin members on what type of events you'd like to us to have.

Primarily, with the influx of new members and new players to the game in general, I can see there being a need for some quest assistance events. We used to have these before, setting aside a given timeslot or two every week where those of us who were stuck on a quest could ask for some other members to join in the battles and help win the non-soloable content.

With the increased amount of skirmishes, we might have a few skirmish intro events too, running some not-too-hard group skirmishes for people to get familiar with the mechanics and then later we can graduate onto some of the more tasking group skirmishes or even the much whispered about raids. :)

If there is enough interest, we may run another set of book clubs, ie. weekly group questing for second volume of the Epic, a lot of which isn't soloable yet.

And finally, we will have some recreational events, like the kin anniversary.

If you have any suggestions for events, event times good for you, etc. please don't hesitate to mail me (in-game is probably easiest).

P.S. Congratulations to my fellow new cauns!
